"Make A Promise Day" — May 4th

May The Fourth Be With You!

Should Tiger Woods Make A Promise to His Mother on Mother’s Day?

Maybe it’s none of my business, but I can’t help thinking that maybe … just maybe … Tiger Woods should consider making a promise to his mother today.  I don’t want to tell Tiger exactly what he should promise, but it should be very specific and very direct.  He should make a promise that puts his integrity on the line and doesn’t leave any wiggle room for excuses or fudging.

The value of making a promise to someone you care about is the clarity it offers.  It’s like a poker game when you decide to go “all in.”  With a promise, you’re all in.  You have some real skin in the game, so to speak.  Your integrity is on the line and you’re now accountable to somebody else … somebody you really, truly care about.

So go ahead Tiger.  Make a promise to your mother today.  That will provide some much-needed clarity about what you will and won’t do in the future.  As the Nike ad says:  Just Do It!

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY – May 7, 2010 – Matthew Cossolotto, creator of “Make A Promise Day” and author of The Real F Word (FAILURE), urges people to give mom flowers and a promise this Mother’s Day.

Cossolotto, former aide to US House Speaker Jim Wright and Congressman Leon Panetta, made a promise to his dying mother (Virginia Hope Butler) that he would finish writing a book he had been discussing with her, get it published, and dedicate it to her memory.  The resulting book is The Real F Word: The 7 FAILURE Traps of Highly Disempowered People (and what to do about them), available via www.Amazon.com, www.BarnesandNoble.com or local bookstores.

Launching “Make A Promise Day” on May 4th – May The Fourth Be With You!

“People are frustrated with gridlock and broken promises in Washington and on Wall Street.  We see high-profile leaders, sports figures, and would-be role models embroiled in various scandals.  It’s time to increase the level of integrity in society – one person and one promise at a time,” Cossolotto suggests.  “That’s one reason I launched the first annual ‘Make A Promise Day’ on May 4th.  It’s the first ‘holiday’ specifically dedicated to personal empowerment, integrity enhancement and goal achievement.”

Cossolotto’s positive message is catching on.  He’s been interviewed on several programs including Doug Stephan’s Good Day, Rick Barber’s After Midnight, Gus Lloyd’s Seize The Day (SiriusXM), Bruce Owens Good Morning Hudson Valley, Jack Ebling (WLIS-AM), Brainstorms with Nora Klaver, Kellie Fuller (KVON-AM), among others.

Cossolotto has created a keynote presentation about “The Power of Making a Promise” and is collecting real stories from real people about promises made and promises kept for his next book.  Visit www.MakeAPromiseDay.com for details.
